Advertising in the Arab World

Hey guys, is been a while since the last time I wrote in here.
Today want to join two things that I think is very interesting, adverting (of course) and the Arab world. Write now, I am al so studying Arabic, and it is very cool. Last semester (when I was starting to learn Arabic) I saw a very interesting Arabic ad of coca cola. With that ad I learned the importance of knowing the culture of the people where you are going to sell something. The ad was like this, I’m sorry but I wasn’t able to find in the computer, so with my super drawing skills I did the “replica” on paint:

If you are having a hard time figuring out my drawing I can explain what is going on. It is a guy almost dying in the desert, thirsty, dehydrating, etc. Then he drink’s Coca Cola. And then he has energy and is running happy with energy. This ad is very simple, also is very old, it was when coca cola was starting in Middle East. They advertiser didn’t know anything in Arabic, so he develop this simple ad. Turns out to be a failure, no one wanted to drink coca cola. He didn’t know why. And then he finally figured out why, the reason was because Arabic reading is backwards, so they saw the ad as and very happy running men that dinked coca cola and then died. I loved this story; it shows the importance of knowing the culture of the people you want to sell something. I saw this ad in a history of creativity class. If someone knows where I can find this ad please tell me!
Thank you for reading!
